Kareem retired at the age of 42 with records of most points scored by an NBA
player, most blocked shots, most MVP awards, most appearances in All-Star
games, and most seasons played. He composed by far the most impressive
personal and team accomplishments in the history of the NBA! He was
named Rookie of the Year, was a member of 6 NBA championship teams,
was a six-time NBA MVP, was named NBA Finals MVP twice, was named to
the All-Star team 19 times, was league scoring champion twice, and was
selected as a member of the NBA 35th and 50th Anniversary All-Time Teams.

He then wrote "Kareem", which was about his spiritual journey to Islam. Kareem then wrote "Black Profiles in Courage: A Legacy of African-American Achievement" and "Brothers in Arms: The Epic Story of the 761st Tank Battalion, WWII's Forgotten Heroes". Two historically based novels. His next book "With A Season on the Reservation: My Sojourn with the White Mountain Apaches" was about his experiences coaching Native Americans on basketball.
